A vegan red lipstick refill formulated with Hourglass’ patent-pending replacement for carmine – the industry’s standard red pigment produced from crushed female insects. Hourglass wanted to create a vegan replacement for carminea centuries-old pigment still used in most colour cosmetics. Derived from female crushed insectscarmine has a hue that is difficult to capture by other means. Finding a comparable substitute was one of Hourglass’ greatest challenges in the transition to vegan ingredients. After many attempts collaborating with partners at UnileverHourglass were able to replicate the same vibrancy with Red 0.

HOW TO REFILL CONFESSION LIPSTICK
1. Hold pointed end of the applicatorremove cap and pull out lipstick barrel.
2. Remove cap of refill shadefirmly pull lipstick barrel out from the cylindrical base. Reconnect refill cap and base with remaining lipstick from Step 1.
3. Hold pointed end of the applicator and insert new refill shade into opening until it clicks into place. Secure applicator cap after each use.
